Commissions - an individual journey

The commissioned pieces are designed to reflect the nature of the individual by giving them a ‘Portrait’ of their Spirit.

This is not a Portrait in the representational sense, but rather a snapshot of their ‘Spirit’ or that which is eternal in all of us. This essence transcends lifetimes and the material manifestations. The artist meets with the individual and and has an in-depth interview where he asks provocative and sometimes pointed questions. The finished works are Oil paintings on either canvas or wood.

Coburn's clients are left with a “portrait” of themselves that is very personal and intimate, focusing not just on the person they are now, but their larger purpose and the difference they make in the world. The artist has become adept at seeing this even when the subject does not.
